Besse Forest Products Group Procurement Policy Statement

Besse Forest Products Group is committed to sourcing logs from certified sustainable sources.

As such, we implement our best efforts to avoid trading in wood that is:

  1. illegally harvested
  2. harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
  3. harvested where global conservation priorities are threatened
  4. harvested in natural forests being converted to plantations or non-forest uses
  5. harvested from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted

Our professional foresters and procurement representatives are required to regularly participate in Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) training sessions as well as Continuing Education courses per the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) guidelines.

Additionally, BFPG has developed and adopted appropriate documents, manuals and procedures to help guide its log procurement staff in “Chain of Custody” for logs.

We are committed to annually monitor and review the effectiveness of our policies and associated programs to continually improve and broaden the practice of sustainable forestry.
